Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce

The team at LAN Infotech is thrilled to announce that our CEO, Michael Goldstein, has been recognized as Hero of the Month by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, for leading LAN Infotech as a major supporter of non-profit organizations in the region.
Michael recently sponsored a breakfast for representatives of local non-profits with the Chamber, where he gave a presentation on the evolving need for cybersecurity for non-profit organizations today.
Cybercrime is on the rise, and all types of businesses and organizations are potential targets for hackers. In fact, non-profits are particularly vulnerable to cybercrime because they often don’t have the same resources as a larger corporation to protect data and prepare for hacking attacks, so they’re often seen as easy targets.
That’s why Michael offered simple and cost-effective strategies that any non-profit organization can leverage to better defend against cybercrime:

  • Password management programs to ensure all staff members use different, unique, and well-designed passwords for all services.
  • Information on common cybercriminal tricks such as the signs of an email phishing attack, and how to recognize potential malware.
  • Understanding of different anti-virus and anti-malware programs on the market, and which ones are effective and simple to use.
  • And more

Michael also offered all non-profit members of the Chamber a complimentary security consultation from LAN Infotech, to help each organization ensure they didn’t have any glaring vulnerabilities that could be exploited by an opportunistic hacker.
For all of Michael’s hard work with local non-profits, the Chamber recognized him as February’s Hero of the Month, and we couldn’t be more proud!
